Richard Jason Dolan (born January 27, 1974) is an author, businessman and speaker known for his theories on wealth and performance. He is the author of Performance: Codifying Human Excellence Through Sport Pyschology published by Routledge and Wealth Mastery: The Six Essential Shifts to A New Financial Destiny published by REIN Press.
Early life
Dolan grew up in what was considered an inner city neighbourhood of Toronto growing up originally in Thorncliffe Park until his parents divorced. He was five. He would move between homes that took him back and forth from Flemingdon Park to College Street. He left home at 16 years of age, and never returned. Dolan worked during his high school years as a weight rack boy for Gold’s Gym, cleaning barbells and weighted machines of their plates. One day he asked the owner he became so successful and the owners shared their secret to success – investing. Dolan decided to leave high school and enter the investment business.
Early career
Dolan began his career in 1992, entering the investment industry as a telemarketer, often referred to as a cold call cowboy. He would make over three hundred cold calls a day on behalf of the broker he worked for soliciting target clients to open a trading account with the stock brokerage Dolan worked at. During that time, Dolan was recognized as a driven and motivated young individual who’s raw talents could be weaponized if adequately trained. Dolan was sent off to workshops, seminars and retreats to fortify and perfect his selling skills and marketing
abilities learning from legends of the time including Zig Ziglar, Bob Proctor, Nick Murray, Stephen Covey and Tony Robbins. He was 18 years of age.
Author, speaker and advisor
Following years of studying inside research areas such as positive psychology, behavioural finance, happiness economics and investor resilience, Dolan authored his very own Urban Financial Life Philosophy. Dolan published books on the subject of wealth management, financial life planning, performance psychology, real estate investing and human betterment.
Dolan became a public speaker and regularly spoke for The Power Within across various stages in both Canada and the US [4]; sharing the stage with political figures ranging from US Presidents William Jefferson Clinton [5], George W. Bush [6] and Barack Obama [7] as well as former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton [8], US Ambassador Fred Bush [9], former First Lady Michelle Obama [10] and President of Mexico Vicente Fox [11]. Dolan has also shared the stage with iconic figures including Oprah Winfrey (**), Ellen DeGeneres (**), Tony Robbins (**), Sir Richard Branson (**), Deepak Chopra (**), Robin Sharma (**) and has advised entrepreneurs such as car builder Horatio Pagani (**), hip hop artist Drake (**), Rémy Martin (**), BRON Studios (**), and couture fashion institution Chanel (**).
Financial Life – money, wealth and real estate
Dolan was a marketing and sales strategist, responsible for business development activities for financial planners, investment advisors and later wealth management companies. From 1992 through to 2008, it has been estimated that Dolan played a part, or key role in over $1B in sales through his coaching, teaching and lecturing practices to distribution channels. Dolan designed and delivered certificate learning programs on the subject of Wealth Management and Marketing and Selling Financial Services for York University’s Schulich School of Business (Executive Development Centre) under the late Dean Peter Zarry. Dolan served as the President of Canada’s longest running private real estate investment group (“REIN”) representing over 35,000 investors nationally representing over $5B in real estate assets from 2008 to 2019. Theories
Dolan’s writing and speaking is based on his very own urban life philosophy, “Dolanetics: a model to more” where he asserts “our relationship to life and all our experiences of it shapes and shifts our relationship to success, achievement and more.” His theory proposes that “we were all born with a unique source of origination, a state of throwness, which we were thrown into comprised of people, environment, beliefs and conversations shaping our relationship to ourselves, others, the world and future itself” Dolan applies his thinking and philosophy largely
inside the world of wealth and performance; and can be found in curricula and programming titled The Sport of Money, The Great Financial Life, Think Legacy and Richer.
Performance Advisory
Dolan is the only Canadian to have been gifted three NBA Championship rings. Dolan was gifted two rings in the Miami Heat’s back-to-back wins in 2012/2013 by Juwan Howard, player turn coach (**) and an additional NBA championship ring gifted to Dolan by Mike Mancias, Chief Performance Advisor to Lebron James in the Los Angeles Lakers win of 2020 (**).
