KEYNOTE: Nav Bhatia

Official Raptors Superfan & Business Leader

Nav Bhatia, also known as the Official Toronto Raptors Superfan, has not missed a home game since the team’s inception in 1995. You’ll often see him at Scotiabank Arena, sitting in his famous courtside seat and at a few road games. In 2015, the Raptors appointed Nav as their Community Ambassador, and he reported directly to Global Ambassador, Drake. Together, they aim to spread the love of basketball and the Toronto Raptors. In 2021, the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame inducted Nav to recognize his efforts in promoting games and philanthropy. Nav Bhatia arrived in Canada in 1984, with very little to his name. Nevertheless, he worked his way to becoming the number one car salesman at Hyundai. Eventually, he found himself the opportunity to own both the Mississauga and Rexdale Hyundai dealerships. The path to success was not without challenges. In particular, Nav overcame many instances of racial intolerance as a visible minority.

Through his love of basketball, Nav looks to change the perception of Sikhs and South Asians to the mainstream audience. He hopes for a more united community where people won’t have to face the discrimination Nav dealt with over the years. Nav Bhatia believe integrating our youth at a young age is truly the path to help change this perception and build a more tolerant society. Each year, he purchases tickets and brings thousands of kids of all backgrounds to watch the NBA’s Toronto Raptors play at home. In 2018, the Superfan started the Nav Bhatia Superfan Foundation. This non-profit is dedicated to raising money to build basketball courts and camps for kids in Canada and globally. Since then, he accepted ambassadorship roles with Tissot, World Vision, TIFF (The Toronto International Film Festival) and the WE Charity. All of these organizations support Nav and his Foundation in bringing kids together through the love of basketball.
